Not All B Vitamins are Created Equal

A friend of mine handed me something one time that she claimed was a vitamin B pill that when paced under the tongue to slowly dissolve was meant to give me a burst of energy. If you are like me you would be happy to get any kind of an legal spike in energy level to get through the day. I was disappointed when 30 minutes went by and then an hour with no sudden burst or even flicker of energy. I wanted to tell her she wasted her money on an expensive placebo but kept my opinions to myself.

Fatigue and mild depression have forever been my nemesis. Sometimes I have days where I just can’t get over the slump of exhaustion and I end up sleeping away precious time needed to get things done. This can be frustrating and feed into depressive patterns.

Getting Your Metabolism to Work For You

I remember when I could live off pizza, soda and cheesecake, never gaining an ounce. As a matter of fact I had earned the nickname of “Grover”, that fuzzy blue monster from Sesame Street, because my arms and legs were so skinny! Now when I look at a photo of myself I seem to notice that my arms are rather large and my legs are not so skinny anymore. I wish I could say that I was bulging with muscle; lets just say I am bulging with something.

It just doesn’t seem fair that in order to get back to my ideal weight I need to drastically change my eating and exercise habits. Now that I am older and have more economic ability to buy and eat great food, I feel forced by gravity and slow metabolism to choose an over priced salad instead! I have some great friends who still have that blessed perfect metabolism and are able to eat what they want and exercise when they feel like it.  How can it be that we are the same age and yet my metabolism is so different? Is it genetics? Inquiring minds want to know!

Healthy Women’s Weight Loss

Is it just a myth that men can lose weight easier than women? It seems to me that I can merely smell a piece of cheesecake and gain five pounds. The men I know can cut down on portions for a few days and lose ten pounds. As a woman it seems so unfair! Does it all boil down to the difference in muscle mass? I don’t want to have to pump more iron than the men in my life in order to lose weight faster.

Breakfast is still the most important meal of the day. In order to properly manage your blood sugar and give your body the boost of energy it needs you cannot afford to skip breakfast.
